My GORGEOUS Sister-in-Law Katie

Rem's parents and little sister came to town this weekend. Katie had asked me earlier in the week if I would shoot some photos of her and I was absolutely flattered and really excited because it gave me a chance to practice my photography skills. This evening, we took the chance to go outside of town to capture some photos in the beautiful fall foliage. I have known Katie since she was about Gavin's age and have watched her change and grow into a BEAUTIFUL young woman, inside AND out! In five days, she will begin her teenage years and I absolutely can't believe that's even possible. Steph and I were joking this evening that if you looked back on our photos when we were thirteen, you would probably laugh your head off. This girl is absolutely stunning! She definitely skipped over those awkward years that most kids go through! If you don't want to take my word for it, see for yourself!

Mommy Took Our Pictures

This morning, I decided I finally needed to get the boys out and get some updated photos of them. I always have grand plans of getting these really adorable "Pinterest worthy" photos, but trying to take a three year old and an eighteen month old's pictures by yourself isn't usually the easiest task. It's one thing to just have them be super active, but add on a grumpy Gavin and you have yourself a perfect storm for a challenging photo session. Literally, two seconds before we walked out the door, Gavin walked up and touched the hot iron and burned one of his fingers so we had to deal with that and I almost decided to just not try to take their pictures today. I had them all dressed up and it was a beautiful morning so I ended up going ahead and taking them. Gav had a pretty hard time and was pretty grumpy the whole time because his finger hurt and I was sure I didn't get one good photo. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I got home and got them uploaded to the computer. I have been learning how to take all my photos in manual mode and I think it has really helped improve my photography. I know I'm no professional and still have a LOT to learn on the editing side of things but I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. I would love to have an actual professional take their photo's but it's so darned expensive and they usually aren't in the best mood anyway so I guess I'll just keep working on my own photography skills. For now, I'll just share the cuteness!

I couldn't decided on color or b&w so I just added both!

This is the best I could get of them sitting down. Not the greatest but it will work I guess.

I may try to take them out another morning/evening when Rem can come to help me but if not, there are some pretty cute ones in this bunch! I think they may be the cutest kiddos ever (I'm not bias at ALL!)

And just because these photos turned out well, doesn't mean they all did. Here are some of the ones where you can really tell that Gav is not having a good time!

 It HURTS Mom!

He would alternate between this face and a smile.

He would not put his ice pack down.

I guess the caramel candy doesn't make his finger feel better (yes, I may have bribed him)
